    Poems...some apt, some just brilliant.
Give Me Back My Rags - by Vasco Popa

    Just come to my mind
My thoughts will scratch out your face

    Just come into my sight
My eyes will start snarling at you

    Just open your mouth
My silence will smash your jaws

    Just remind me of you
My remembering will paw up the ground under your feet

That's what it's come to between us.

What It Is - by Eric Fried

    It is madness
    says reason
    It is what it is
    says love

    It is uhappiness
    says caution
    It is nothing but pain
    says fear
    It has no future
    says insight
    It is what it is
    says love

    It is ridiculous
    says pride
    It is foolish
    says caution
    It is impossible
    says experience
    It is what it is
    says love

Unfortunate Coincidence - by Dorothy Parker

By the time you swear you're his,
      Shivering and sighing,
And he vows his passion is
      Infinite, undying -
Lady, make a note of this:
      One of you is lying.

When I have Fears that I may Cease to be - by John Keats

When I have fears that I may cease to be
Before my pen has gleaned my teeming brain,
    Before high-pilèd books, in charactery,
      Hold like rich garners the full-ripened grain;
When I behold, upon the night's starred face,
Huge cloudy symbols of a high romance,
And feel that I may never live to trace
      Their shadows, with the magic hand of chance;
And when I feel, fair creature of an hour!
That I shall never look upon thee more,
Never have relish in the faery power
Of reflecting love! - then on the shore
Of the wide world I stand alone, and think
Till love and fame to nothingness do sink.

    Invictus - by W. E. Henley

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
      For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud:
    Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Bloody Men - by Wendy Cope

Bloody men are like bloody buses -
You wait for about a year
And as soon as one approaches your stop
    Two or three others appear.

You look at them flashing their indicators,
    Offering you a ride.
You're trying to read the destinations,
You haven't much time to decide.

If you make a mistake, there is no turning back.
Jump off, and you'll stand there and gaze
While the cars and the taxis and lorries go by
And the minutes, the hours, the days.

    Che Fece...Il Gran Rifiuto - by C. P. Cavafy

For some people the day comes
when they have to declare the great Yes
or the great No. It's clear at once who has the Yes
ready within him; and saying it,

he goes from honour to honour, strong in his conviction.
He who refuses does not repent. Asked again,
he'd still say no. Yet that no - the right no -
drags him down all his life.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope I've made you all a bit more cultured, lol. And I do so love feedback from you all, so please leave comments. I know there's not much to comment on, but just let your critics' minds react to the poetry and go wild!
Love and hugs to all xxxxxxx

    Bleh
Today I've been feeling distinctly not good. Feeling like I can't cope, which doesn't happen often, and even less frequently happens badly enough for me to let it show.

It could be because Daniel is currently giving me very mixed messages.
It could be because one of my closest friends was taken ino hospital at the weekend and spent some time in ITU.
It could be because I am trying to compile a Musical CV, for an award that could ease my financial ruin at university by £1000 a year, and I can't think of a single thing I've done that is worth mentioning.
It could be because my birthday is coming up and I have no idea how to celebrate it.
It could be because work is becoming more stressful by the day.
It could be because I haven't slept much recently.
It could be because soon Daniel will be off on holiday to Morocco, and he won't be there for me to gaze at and lust after and drop obscure hints to, and when he comes back he'll wish he'd never left and he'll go back there to live and I might never see him again.

*breathes in and out deeply into a paper bag given to her by a kindly passing Mountie*

But then again it could be because I have an "I Rub My Duckie" in my chest of drawers that I want to use to massage m back, but I can't very easily do that myself, can I. And how do you say to your mother, the only other person in the house, that you'd like her to help you massage your back with a vibrating rubber duck that she thought you bought for your friend (and you did, but then you thought better of it) and you've now hidden in your chest of drawers?

The only word for it it bleh.

    Love and leave xxx

    Bonjour everyone!
Long time no posting, eh? Well nothing's happened since I last posted. Nothing except I got a bit ill, a tad snuffly but not a full-blown cold. Oh and I went round Alysa's on Friday night and we had a funky time - tons of people came over:
    Ab
    Roz
    Jaz
    Me!
    Fred
    Max
    Mitch
    Loz
and obviously Alysa and Keira were there. Duh, their house.
I forgot how fun Max is! I took round a 4-pack of Archers, thinking that only Ab, Roz, Ally and I would be there (and Loz, ofc, but he wouldn't want any Archers, would he?), and it turned out to be a big partay! Some of us ladies went upstairs and read Ally's copy of Scarlet, which was fun XD

Anyway, here's a quizzy meme thing I stole from JimmyJammyJamie. Or [info]black_dranzer as you all know him.

    Fandom Facts
Answer the following questions honestly and about any kind of fandom you have from video games to music to dolls to cars. Whatever!
    01. Name your most well known fandom. Why?

Harry Potter. Cos I got into it ages ago, due to my love of Snape. I've been addicted since then!
    02. Name your least well known fandom. Why?
Ummm...Beyblade, I'll say. Cos I don't watch and never have watched the show, so I never got into the characters or anything.
    03. Name your most obsessed over fandom. Why?
Ummmm.....HP. Cos a) Snape, b) Snape, c) Snape, and d) Hermione. Oh and e) Snermione.
    04. Name your least obsessed over fandom. Why?
South Park, as I never really got into it. Funny show, but not that great that I'd obsess over it when it's not on.
    05. Name the fandom you're most proud to be a part of. Why?
"Star Trek - I'm proud to be a Trekkie! Why? Because it makes me cool!" <--------- I agree, Jaiymaiy!
    06. Name the fandom you're most proud to be a part of because of the people. Why?
HP - Snape-fans are great, they're all like me! Also I've dragged Alysa and Ellie into it, too. Yay!
    07. Name the fandom you're most embarassed to be a part of. Why?
Not embarrassed to be a part of any, actually. Except when Joel runs around, drunk, yelling "LIZZIE READS SNAPE-PORN!!! LIZZIE'S FILTHY! FILTHY SNAPE-PORN!!" which is less than nice.
    08. Name the fandom you're most embarassed to be a part of because of the people. Why?
"Uhm.. I can't really think of anything at the time being." <-- I'll stick with your answer, m'dear
    09. What fandom of yours has the most influence over your life? Why?
Definitely HP. Cos it's great, and I do spend a long time trawling the net for decent fics. Sad, I know.
    10. Do you/have you pretend to be into a fandom? Why? Do you still pretend, if so, why?
I started being a bit skeptical about fandoms in general, thinking that made-up stuff couldn't be better than the original. BUT I WAS WRONG! You can do so much more in fandom than would ever be possible in canon. Namely Snermione, which JKR has almost specifically said is never going to happen (as she said she doesn't want Snape to have a lovelife. Cruelty!)

Love to all, I'm feeling sick *bleurggghh*

Ah well...another day at work went by pretty uneventfully. I'm off to Sturry library tomorrow morning to do Baby Bounce & Rhyme, then I'm back at Canterbury for the afternoon. Off work at 5, so maybe (if a certain person is off then too...) I might go for a drink after that?
    ...
Bah, ceptin I've got a choir rehearsal in the evening. I could really do without that, you know. It just gets in the way of doing anything, as I have to eat before I go, but I can't eat anything big or garlicky or oniony or dairy-based. So basically my options are a ham sandwich (w/o lettuce and mayo, obviously) or a piece of cucumber. Hmmm... yummy. Or some peppers - oh, no, wait, they're all breath-smelly-making aren't they. Bugger.

Ah yes, just thought I'd show you this to cheer you all up and thank the sweet Lord that you're not in my head - possibly the two least flattering photographs I've ever seen of Snape and Hermione. Snape looks like he's made of Plaster of Paris, and Hermione looks about 7 years old. How wrong is that? Gah:

Merry Christmas/Happy Hannukah/Eid Mubarak; and any other festive greeting you care to think of!

See? See how multi-cultural I am? I am well good, innit elbow.  Yeah.

    Update:
Christmas was grrrreat! Got loads of pressies, some were not surprises which is less-than-yayful, but most were surprises which is yayful! Got a cool game called Khet, which is much like chess in that it's quite intellectual and requires strategy and careful thinking. But it has lasers! (see here for details).
Other presents weren't quite so cool, but the whole experience of Christmas was just wonderful. I love being with my family, and we had an uber family-type series of celebrations: Christmas Day we went to my grandparents' house, ate and played Trivial Pursuit until we fell asleep. Boxing Day we had the grandparents over for a buffet lunch and games in the afternoon. Day after Boxing Day my mother and I flew up to Edinburgh to spend a few days with her sister and her family - I spent almost all my pay for this month while we were up there, but it was totally worth it to see my mum so happy!

In other news, I be mightily pissed off with Daniel.
    O;o
Well.. I gave everyone at work Christmas cards, and in his I wrote a message saying
"Just to say, I'll be away between Christmas and New Year, so if you wanted to contact me (for any reason...) my number is ********** - love from Trouble".
I also gave him a Christmas present, a video of When Harry Met Sally (it's a bit of an in-joke with us at work...loooong story).
HE HAS MADE NO MENTION OF THESE THINGS!
No text message over the festive period! Not even a thank you for the present!
I wonder if he's working on the principle of "Treat 'em mean, keep 'em keen"...
If so, he is sorely mistaken. I'm getting angry, not horny.
    GRRRR!!!!!!!

Well...I say he's mistaken... *shifty eyes*

Love to all, hope to see most of you at Prizegiving - drinky afterwards, anyone?
    Lizwig xxxxxx

P.S. The reason this is a bit out of date is that when I was writing my original draft of this entry, my computer disconnected from the internet and I lost most of it. Bah. So I decided not to be so detailed this time. Or so timely.

In the year 2007 I resolve to:
Sleep my way to the top.

    Get your resolution here.

Musical Meme! Hooray! oh, and some updates regarding my life XD
Hello my pretties. I have returned from the world of not-being-online-and-not-updating-my-LJ-with-anything-better-than-silly-time-wasting-memes and I present to you a rundown of:
    a) my life so far since I last posted an update,
    b) what I intend to do over the festive period,
    c) what's coming up for me in the next week or so
and d) OF COURSE! my musical meme (that I stole from Kath, who apparently stole it from Lal? who stole it from Encai? I think that's how it goes...)

    So, update:
I have been working my little socks off! Oh yeah, last Thursday (not he one just gone, the one before) I was working my 9am-8pm shift and when we were closing up the library we found that someone had peed on a chair. Eeeuww, gross. I hate being open late on cold winter nights, we get all the vagrants and drunkards and druggies coming in for shelter and trying to sleep in the children's section overnight. Oh, it's great working at the library.
Although, there are compensations *nudge nudge, wink wink* teehee - and they're Daniel-shaped :D
    ...
on that front, fascinated readers, there is as yet no progress. I am asking him tomorrow though, so we shall see. Eep!

    and here is my meme!
It is, as the title suggests, music-related.

    I know. Go figure!

Put your music player on random, click 'next' for each question - no cheating!
    -

Ah, well, there it was. Enjoy it. Go on! Clicky-clicky!!!!
    You know you want to...

Meme from Jamie and Kath, but technically from Jamie
Comment and I'll give you a letter; then you have to list 10 things you love that begin with that letter. After, post this in your journal, and give out some letters of your own. Let me know if you want a letter.

    He gave me B.

    Ta-da!!

Oh, and anyone wanting to know about Daniel will have to wait for my email which will hopefully come soon, as I intend to ask him out quite soon :P

    Today...
According to the "Which personality disorder are you?" test....:

You May Be a Bit Dependent...

You're more than a little preoccupied with being abandoned.
You need a lot of support in your life, at all times.
It's difficult for you to survive on your own...
And you don't really think you ever could.

    What Personality Disorder Are You?

    Today, many things happened...

    * Prince Charles had a birthday. God knows how old he is now, eep. Don't ask me.

    * Richard (my singing teacher) and his S.O. had a bouncing baby boy, named Wilfred, who came into the world at 3:45am weighing 8lb 5oz. Bless!

    * I heard why couples who want to have "hot sex" should masturbate in front of each other. And also how to give "Oh-my-God-no-please-don't-stop" oral sex to a lady. Or rather I listened to Daniel tell me why/how to do these things. Surprisingly erotic, it was, to hear someone I like say naughty things in public. Hmmm. Am I wrong, wrong in my mind box? Answers on a postcard, folkses.

Lots of love to all, I'm too tired to answer any more MeMes. Hurrah, I hear you all cry. Well you can all just bog off, you can. Bleh.

    And the next...

And so endeth the MeMe season on Channel Lizzie. If you've missed any of these MeMes, there is a "Read Again" feature available when you get your brain in gear and realise that you can just click on it again and it will show you again. Jeesus!

    Love and huggles to all,

P.S. Tear me apart and boil my bones,
I'll not rest till she's lost her throne.
My aim is true, my message is clear -
It's curtains for you Elizabeth, my dear....

Is that not a bit of a creepy song to sing to someone you've only known for a few weeks? And whose name is Elizabeth? ...Might just be me.

My lovely choir...oh how wonderful we are
For anyone out there who is a singer, or a budding one at least, there is an open rehearsal of Canterbury Choral Society tomorrow (Tuesday 24th October) night at 7:30pm in Christchurch University Hall down North Holmes Road.
I say this to you all not because I want everyone to know I'm part of CCS ..oh ok then, I do! XD lol...but seriously, I have to spread the knowledge of how wonderful it is to sing with a group of talented and committed vocalists in such a wonderful space as Canterbury Cathedral.
We performed last Saturday (21st October) in the cathedral singing Beethoven's Missa Solemnis for the Canterbury Festival. I had completely forgotten how wonderful it is to sing in the cathedral! I was actually almost moved to tears by the absolutely pure joy that I experienced singing that night.

    The saga is:

My mum usually comes to my concerts with CCS, but this time she had to go to a friend's 50th birthday party in Enfield instead. So I had nobody there to support me. It's not a big thing, really, but I hadn't realised how sad I was about the fact that nobody who knew me was in the audience...boohoo.
    BUT!!!!
On the way to the concert, I chanced to meet Barbara Cooke (my piano teacher and the sister of Richard Cooke, who is the conductor of CCS and my singing teacher) and her partner, Adam Skeaping (our professional IT consultant and brother of Roddy Skeaping, husband of the famous Lucie Skeaping...look it up, dumbass!!) who are both great friends of mine, and who were probably there to support Barbara's neice, Richard's daughter, who was playing the violin solo in the concert.
    E gads, it's a bit complicated, isn't it?
Anyway, I was astonished at how much happier I became once I knew they were in the audience. I knew that they weren't there for me, but it made me feel better. And after the show, I gave the bass and tenor soloists their roses (and Richard his rose, but that's neither here nor there) and got a few stubbly kises on the cheek for my trouble -rolls eyes- Could they not have shaved? Ah well, bless them, they were ever so good!

So I'm vair happy about that! And Barbara should be contacting me next week to meet up for lunch one day to catch up, which should be absolutely delightful. I've missed her, she's such a gentle and kind person, and we haven't seen each other in months. Oh, and Adam is just as lovely, but a bit more excitable, bless 'im XD

However, poor Dan-Dan-The-Library-Man was ill off work today :((((( ! And the others reckon he'll probably be off tomorrow as well, at the very least. Poor thing!!! I did wonder if it was just a hangover, but they didn't seem to think so. Huggles go out to you, Danny boy my dear xx

And farewells go out to you, the rest of the world. I am off now, because I have nothing interesting left to impart to you....although that stuff before wasn't exactly interesting, was it. Ah well, shut up complaining.

    Ciao xxxxxxxxx

All I have the energy to do is...bleh
Bonsoir, mes amis. Je suis très fatigueé, donc je voudrais que vous m'excusez pour parler en Francais...badly.

Yesterday I worked from 9am to 8pm. Bleh. I am tired beyond all description, but not sleepy. I fucking hate being me, sometimes. I'd quite like to be able to get to sleep quickly, and to sleep deeply and refreshingly, without having to spend tons of money on getting drunk first or buying Nytol just to get drowsy of an evening.
Today I worked from 9am to 6pm, and had a two hour choir rehearsal for my concert which is tomorrow night at 7:30pm in the Cathedral as part of the Canterbury Festival. I think my brain might melt if I don't get a good night's sleep tonight! Eep.

Ah yes - this is for Becky:

"I'm going to marry him! We can have little singing librarian children!"

    lolz...

Oh yes, Lizzie's Quotation of the Day:

"Will we ever learn? Who knows. Religion - shit it."

    Thank you, Stephen Fry.
    -rolls eyes-
One of the finest minds Cambridge has turned out, and that's all he has to say about the inherent violence and adversity of the human race. Ah well *sigh* there's probably hope for us all then.
Ah well, a few quizzes should get this girl a bit sleepy, eh?

    The Name Game!

1.Your Movie Star Name (appropriate gender grandparent on dad's side/your favourite sweets):

Mary Werther (I decided to leave out the apostrophe and the word Originals...)

    2. Your Spy Name (your middle name/your street name):

    Anne Calais

    3. Your Rap Name (First letter of first name/first few letters of surname):

    E McI

    5. Your Soap Opera Name (your middle name/town where you were born):

    Anne Newham

    6. Your Star Wars Name (first 3 letters of your last name/last 3 letters of your mum's maiden name/first 3 letters of your pet's name):

    10. Your Action Hero Name (first name of main character in the last movie you watched/last food you ate):

    General Questions!

    1. Someone knocks on your door at 2 a.m., who do you want it to be?

Someone attractive (IMHO anyway), who can sing, is relatively intelligent, is attracted to me, is rich, and is willing to embark upon quite a serious relationship right away as I am feeling needy right now. Ah yes, and he must be a man, as I would like children at some point, preferably the fun way :P

    2. Your boss tells you he/she will give you a $20 raise if you'll do your job naked, would you do it?

So, like, what is $20 in people money? About £12? Fuck that! I'm not getting naked for anything less than £1M or an unconditional proposal of marriage from Johnny Depp (or..well, Bec knows :P hehe)

    3. Put yourself in a nutshell:

I don't think they make nutshells big enough...but here goes:
I'm tired, sarcastic, emotional and needy. Love me.

    4. Ever seen a ghost?

    Buh?

    5. Happy with your body?

Heck no. I'd need someone to tell me they love me as I am, and prove it to me, before I'd even begin to become happy with my body (or as I like to call it, The Great Beached Whale of Tyler Hill)

    6. A reason you would move to Iceland:

I love cold weather, as layers are very forgiving...and there are many more enjoyable methods that spring to mind of getting warmer than getting cooler

    7. A place you've lived that you miss:

My house in Deal, where I lived from the ages of 2 1/2 to 8..that was a great house. For a start, there wasn't any damp and mould in my room.

    8. A job you would never do, no matter how much you were paid:

    Anything violent.

    9. A band/group you thought was cool when you were 13:

    The Spice Girls -is ashamed-

    10. You have a nightmare, who's the first person you think to call?

My mumsy ... is that sad? I suppose cos I still live with my family, I can say them without being laughed at (much)

    11. Wanna have kids before you're 30?

Fuck yes! I want them now, but I shouldn't have them now. I would like to get a degree before I get all earth-mother-y

    12. You in love?

Would say yes, but I think that's wishful thinking. I don't know that I've ever really been in love (well, once, but that was (and still is) so completely and utterly all-consuming that I've tried to put it behind me...not working) but I'm certainly in lust at the moment ;) ohhhh yeah

    13. Ever had a crush on one of your friend's parents?

    -nods head slowly-

    14. Naughtiest thing you've done at work?

Ummm...blatantly ogled a colleague's arse in front of customers. That is all.

    15. Do you look more like your mom, or your dad?

My mum, thank God - I have the funniest story about my dad and his appearance:
I was in Richard's house just finishing up my singing lesson, and suddenly my dad's face appears at the window (unbeknownst to me at the time). Richard sees him and visibly blanches - he looks from the window to me, and then back again. I look out, and my dad is looking the scruffiest I've ever seen him. I then remember that Richard has never met my father, or heard about him - he looks ready to defend himself from this old man who (to his mind at least :P ha) is clearly a vagrant, attempting to break into his house and attack us both. Oh, how I laughed. Oh, how relieved poor Richard looked when I said it was daddy...lolz

    16. Something you've always wanted to learn how to do:

Sit-ups ... well, not so much learn how to do, cos I know how, I just can't. To be physically fit enough to do them would be nice. However I must take into account the fact that I do have a lot of extra weight to carry on my top half, so it's tougher than for most people :P

    17. Still friends with your exes?

Erm...*counts exes on fingers of one hand* I think I'm friends with one...but that's half of them, so I think that's pretty good!

    18. Where you'd like to be in 10 years:

Singing at La Scala or La Fenice, with a wedding ring on my finger and a proud husband singing opposite me (or conducting me...or playing in the orchestra...the possibilities are endless!)

    19. Something you learned about yourself this year?

That I work better with people I don't even know than with people I've known for years. Doi.

    20. What do you want for your birthday?

All Bill Bailey's gigs, Green Wing Series 1&2, and Family Guy (to date) on DVD -nods happily-

    21. WHAT COLOUR ARE YOUR TOENAILS?

Toenail colour...haven't exposed them in months!

    33. HAVE YOU EVER WORN FISH NET STOCKINGS?

-nods sheepishly- in my defence, it was for the 6th Form Panto...and the school production...and I intend to wear them to a screening of the RHPS at some point soon - yay!

    34. Best Event Today?

Ummmm..... Spending tons of time doing sod all at work, just talking to/taunting Daniel and generally winding him up - oh, and accidentally letting slip how ticklish I am...argh. That's going to bite me on the arse at some point, isn't it. Oh, tits.

    Oh yes, and apparently:

    8:29 pm
Entry originally started on Monday night...but I couldn't post it!

I had on Monday my day of work first. And I be tired very much, so my words don't make the sense.
    Hehe...
Just kidding. I've had a great 3 days at work (Canterbury Library, for anyone who's interested), and I intend to tell you ALL about them... -evil grin-

    Monday:
First off, I had to get up before 7am. That sucks. I'd say the journey to/from work is the worst part of my day, at least so far.
I got the bus at 7:56 just up the hill from my house, which is easy enough to walk to - but it's so boring if I get there early! Passing motorists don't necessarily notice the bus stop, as it is almost completely hidden by foliage from some knobhead's field hedge thing that hasn't been trimmed... -grumble grumble-...and so they think I'm crazy. I'm not paranoid, I can see it in their eyes when they look at me!!!
On the bus, I was confronted by about 35 teenagers. Not so bad, you might think. But nay. They are all evil. They don't move back for you, even when there's no more space to hang onto those hangy things. Bastards.
After the bus got in, I looked at my phone - it was 10 minutes later than timetabled, and I only had 8 minutes in which to leg it down Canterbury high street to the library. Argh!
But I made it in time. Hurrah! Only to find that the guy I'm supposed to give all my forms to - CRB check, proof of ID and address, bank details etc. - was out on a "small branches visit" (which basically means he spends all morning in Swalecliffe, or Sturry, or Herne Bay, or somewhere like that, and isn't at MY library to take MY important documents!! Grrrr!!)
The day itself was good! I spent about 2 hours being trained to use the computers, basically being told which jargon means what. Woot. Not hard, and apparently I picked it up quicker than anyone else so far.
I met all my colleagues (or at least those who work on a Monday) and they are (to the best of my memory) :
Mark - guy who should be taking my CRB stuff etc. He's nice, but he was friendlier when he interviewed me. I only talked to him to tell him about my forms.
Martin - guy who gives me a detailed tour of the place in lieu of Mark. He's lovely, he laughs a lot, and he's really enthusiastic and friendly.
Jan - woman who trained me all day. She likes me, I hope, but she's only in two days a week - and this week, only one day when I'm actually there too. Bah.
Linda - nice lady who helped me a bit when I was rushed off my feet with returns and issues (ooh I know the lingo already). She's quiet, don't know her that well yet.
Carolyn - great laugh, I think she's a New Zealander or South African judging by the (very gentle) accent. She's older than the others, and very kind.
Anne - absolutely bonkers lady whose daughter took a Biomedical Sciences degree at Kent but dropped it because she found her calling in job placement services. Lucky her! I don't know what my calling is, yet.
Dan - young guy (vair vair nice looking too :P heehee) who's quite efficient and confident, the lucky bastard - or at least he gives the impression of being efficient and confident. Which is what matters! He also signed me out this afternoon without me even having to ask. Awww, bless! Very nice guy.
Tim - another young fella who's been working on-and-off there for 6 years. Quite a charmer, usually has old ladies falling over themselves to get to him..haha. NIce guy, friendly but I haven't had much to do with him yet.
Margaret - nice older lady but a bit quiet. Haven't done much except smile at her, she's been on duty at different times to me so far.

Got a lift home from 'rentals, had to tell them all this stuff then too :P well, they asked for it! XD

    Tuesday:
Today was ... interesting. For one thing, the bus this morning didn't come. I had a 9am start today, whereas yesterday I started at 8:30am, and so I decided to get the later bus that got me into Canterbury station at about 8:45am. However, I waited at Darwin college bus stop for a full quarter of an hour after the bus was meant to arrive, and in the end my dad had to take me into work. Bastards! For another, Jan (the person I basically shadowed all day yesterday) wasn't in, as she only works two days a week at Canterbury, and today she wasn't in :(
So I was wandering like a bit of a lost lamb this morning. Oh, and my quadraceps (are they the muscles in your thighs? on the top?) are complaining at me for bending from the knees  like you're meant to when picking up heavy piles of books -rolls eyes- So I'll attack them with the Fenbid later on *sigh*
The day went really quickly, actually. We were quite busy, and nicely enough most customers were understanding when I pulled the "I'm a trainee" card out if faced by a scary problem! I'm still not answering the phone. One thing I will not do yet is answer the bloody telephone. I panic too much, I'm paranoid I'll just say "Hello Canterbury Library, Elizabeth speaking. I'm knackered already so please make this quick as I think I'll scream quite loudly in the next 5 minutes if I don't get some coffee and chocolate. How may I make you go away quicker?" because I'm not concentrating hard enough :(
Had choir tonight, which wasn't too bad, although the sopranos do seem a little...erm...crap. I felt like I was hauling them through the piece by their shoelaces, or belt-loops, or something equally not-made-for-hauling-along-by. Sigh. My throat hurts...

    Wednesday:
This morning was a fiasco of rather epic proportions. This time the bus did arrive. But it didn't stop. Wanker. The bus driver apparently couldn't tell if I wanted to get on the bus or not, as the fact that I was:
    a) brandishing very clearly a large bus ticket,
    b) standing right on the edge of the pavement so I was practically on the road,
    c) the only person at the bus stop and smiling expectantly at the oncoming bus in question,
and d) waiting at a major fare stage so he should have stopped anyway
was not enough to let him know that I wanted to get on the bus. So I had to walk about 15 yards up the road (there's no pavement beyond the bus stop) to get on the bloody bus. And even then I didn't get a sodding seat.
But when I did get to work, I had the prospect of only working in the morning. Which was nice!
    I also answered the phone.
    ...
Where's my rapturous applause??? Sigh. Ah well. At least I'm proud of me, anyway.

However, this afternoon I went to see my old next-door-neighbour in hospital. He's dying of cancer, it spread from his throat to his main systems an he's been very ill for a month or so. It won't be long until he's dead, apparently. It's so horrible. I love him so much, he was like my other grandpa. I couldn't stop crying. I'm starting again now. I think I should stop writing soon, I need sleep - I'm working 9am til 8pm tomorrow, so I'll need a good night's rest behind me. Not that I'll get one, I'll cry a bit more and then start dozing, and then wake up and cry again. I've never lost anyone before. It's so hard to know how to feel, and I wish I'd seen him before he got like this. He's so ill, he looks like he's been at Belsen or something, it's horrible. He was so strong, he was a Royal Marine Commando when he was younger, and he was always so strong. I remember when he used to hug me, I used to be struggling to breathe! I'd have to remind him I was a frail, feeble woman, and he'd laugh and let me go. He's dying, oh God, it's so awful. He's so out of it on painkillers that he didn't even notice me crying on him, he only knew I was there when I kissed him goodbye.
So today was a bit of a mixed bag, really. Not great.

Sorry, guys, I know it all reads a bit dismally, and I find that writing like this always looks so fake and attention-seeking when you read it, but I just had to put it in writing, or I'll forget him. I know it. I couldn't stop crying, it was so horrible to see him so weak. I couldn't stay for more than about 15 minutes.
    Rambling stream-of-consciousness writing over.

I know what will distract me - a mindless quizzicle

    You Should Rule Jupiter

Huge and hot, Jupiter is a quickly turning planet with short days and intense gravity.

You are perfect to rule Jupiter, because you are both dominant and kind.
You have great strength and confidence, but you never abuse your power.

You are always right. Even if you make mistakes, you compensate for them... before anyone knows it.
Headstrong and ambitious, you always have a goal in mind. You are optimistic and believe thing things will always work out.

Hmmm...Jupiter? Really? Well, he was the King of the Planets, maybe I could wreak some intergalactic havoc... -evil laugh-

    You are Agnostic

You're not sure if God exists, and you don't care.
For you, there's no true way to figure out the divine.
You rather focus on what you can control - your own life.
And you tend to resent when others "sell" religion to you.

Golly gosh, I never knew I was so pragmatic about things I can't alter...
    -suppresses snort of laughter-
Those who know me in RL will agree, I am most definitely neither willing nor able to lay back and let things happen - so this is surprising, to me at least.
I suppose I do take control, but only over those things like decision-making. I don't try and conjure mythical beings or try and part the seas by waving my sodding walking stick *ahem MOSES ahem*

IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?
    So, here's how it works:
    1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
    2. Put it on shuffle
    3. Press play
    4. For every question, type the song that's playing
    5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
    6. Don't lie.

    Opening Credits:
    "Iris" by GooGoo Dolls
    Hmmm..miserable :S

    Waking Up:

..Not entirely sure what to say to that

    First Day At School:
    "London Underground" by Amateur Transplants
"They're all lazy useless fucking cunts...I want to shoot them all with a rifle"
    :-S Goodness, I was a well-adjusted 11-yr-old psycho, wasn't I

    Playtime/Childhood:
    "Confusion" by The Zutons

    Mental Breakdown:

    Driving:
    "The Gutterati" by The Fratellis
Not sure what this says about my driving...maybe that I'll frequently drive into the kerb?

    End Credits:
    "Stay" by Shakespeare's Sister
...hmmm well it outlines my inherent loneliness and fear of being alone. Woo.

Song that is on my mind at the moment...
    For once in my life
I have someone who needs me
    Someone I've needed so long
    For once unafraid
I can go where life leads me
And somehow I know I'll be strong

    For once I can touch
What my heart used to dream of
    Long before I knew
    Someone warm like you
Could make my dreams come true

    For once in my life
I won't let sorrow hurt me
Not like it's hurt me before, oh
    For once I've got someone
    I know won't desert me
    'Cause I'm not alone anymore

    For once I can say
This is mine, you can't take it
As long as I've got love I know I can make it
    For once in my life
I've got someone who needs me

    ...

Wishful thinking, maybe. How do I know they won't desert me? And I doubt they need me that much, they seem to do pretty well without me. They probably don't need me at all, really. Ah well. It's a nice song.
